The basis of Democracy is Free Inquiry and Free Debate....not yelling at each other or past each other, not talking and not listening....Debate, a space-time phenomenon where two or more parties speak their minds and listen, learn, and change their minds when a better argument is made...
Since our elected officials are too fond of their vanity videographies (tv time) to actually listen and learn from each other, we need actual leaders in thought.........to speak their minds and enlighten us, get us to figure out our problems and get into the habit of acknowledging points of view that differ from our own.
Talking about what ails or troubles us is how we will find the solutions, and this much neglected and almost non-existent institution for the general public is critical to the revival of popular democracy.
Every community should have at least one.
