Broadband companies are too slow to change and too quick to charge...unburdening Seattle of their hold, will make Seattle another source of attraction, and improve business and personal communication in the process.
Network cards will be bought by the user and with proof of purchase the cost will be refunded to those who live in Seattle Proper.
This will be a Seattle-centric project...for the time being, the broader area may be included later on.
The wireless network will be WiMax which is a long range system as compared to the lesser WiFi short-range...though there will also be a support structure using the new N standards (a, b, g, n) that can be daisy chained high on most utility posts, creating a wifi/wimax crossbreed that will provide 100 percent coverage in either form, everywhere one goes.
A mix of volunteers and paid staff will provide technical support.
Public Access link centers will be setup in each neighborhood as with Library branches, which will include both social and focal areas....access will be 24-7-365.
We will call these LINK centers because that is a better word to define what we call the internet....which sounds more technical.
The Link or The Great Link is more expressive of what this communications tool does for us...it links us....all of us everywhere.
