A name for both the system of whale-shark shaped submarines as well as the individual vessels which will transit between the island communities (some developed specifically with tourist entertainment in mind) and the rest of the washington landscape to allow greater free-flow of people among our natural assets
Vessels designed to travel at very high speeds (100-150 mph) ideally using the caterpillar system described in the movie 'hunt for red october'. Powered by nuclear generators.
Some 500-600 people to a sub.
Additions after the initial test phase among the islands will include a rapidferry to Vancouver, BC in Canada, and once that trek has been successfully deployed, further north for an Alaska to Washington transit system to encourage greater use of the vast Alaskan landscape and more interest in it's offerings.
A more luxuriant variant...with proportionate expense...will then follow up with Seattle to Pacific Island and East Asian tours.
Also, developments of underwater...shallow and deep (along washington coast) funparks will provide unique stop points for people to wander and take up the seascape.
The goal is to develop the technology by 2013 and have the first couple of dozen vessels operational in 2014, with the asian tours operational somewhere between 2017-2019.
In total, our aim to have a compliment of 500+ vessels before 2020....with 60-75 percent operating within the US-Canadian sphere and the rest for long-voyage luxury trips in the tropical-pacific theatre.
The point of this project is to enhance the mobility of those working among the various separate land masses in western washington, to encourage greater travel to Alaska and Canada, and finally to use the appeal of such a novel and unique mode of mass transport to draw large numbers of global visitors to Washington State.
The luxuriant pacific travel will fund further research and development of underwater transport and facilities.
Outside of initial costs, the operational costs will be heavily subsidized for those working and living within washington state, prices will be higher for everyone else.
